Hello Everyone, I am new here and this is my first post so I appreciate your patience. I am considering purchasing this RR M1911A1 but have some reservations on the price. Based on the serial number, it was made in July of 1944 but was refurbished by Springfield Armory. I can see the SA refurbish stamp on the right side of the frame to the right of the serial number which is 'NO. Front and rear slide serrations, flat-checkered mainspring housing and custom grips promote sure handling. The Enhanced line of 1911s fills a lot needs with.
Hello Everyone,
I am new here and this is my first post so I appreciate your patience.
I am considering purchasing this RR M1911A1 but have some reservations on the price. Based on the serial number, it was made in July of 1944 but was refurbished by Springfield Armory. I can see the SA refurbish stamp on the right side of the frame to the right of the serial number which is 'NO. 1584XXX'. The pistol has been blued but seems to have been done very well in that the bluing is just on the flat sides of the slide but not on the top or bottom of it and also blued strictly on the sides of the frame. The slide release, safety, hammer, and grip safety are also blued. From my understanding, all of these items should be parkerized but please correct me if I'm mistaken.
I can clearly see FJA and P stamp on left side of the frame and on the right side I can just barely make out the crossed cannons stamp and the number 8 below them and to the left of the grip. Some other observations is the slide stop is serrated but the main spring housing, the mag release, trigger, hammer, and the safety are all checkered. The barrel is stamped with HS on the right and P on the left. The hand grips are wooden Colt with gold Colt medallions but I also have the plastic ones.
Mechanically the only thing I find wrong is the mags will not insert all the way unless I push in on the mag release button. I know some pictures would be best but I'm hoping this description is detailed enough for someone to give me a idea of what the pistol is worth. If you need more info, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate any help.
